Setting the Stage!

What do the Pancake Man, Tinker Bell, and the Landfill Harmonic have in common? They all are inspiration for faculty and staff planning, setting the stage for our primary [[#|student]] visits to the Discovery Center throughout Spring 2013! You, too, can visit our Discovery Center, via our School Home Page and Lower School Student Wikispace Pages, to virtually experience alongside these budding engineers. We will update the eBulletin periodically about their postings …

Mr. May's Super Honey Bee ... Amazzzzzzzing!

Super Bug - Honey Bee Example - Art Form.PNG

I am an amazzzzzing Super Bug! As a Honey Bee., I look like a flying striped, fuzzy teddy bear. The habitat I live in is fields of flowers, the air I fly about, and a hive. I eat nectar and pollen from flowers, I am afraid of the pesticides humans use. I weigh about 1/300 of an ounce and am about 1/2 inch long. I move around by flying and crawling. My special adaptation is my sense of smell; I can spot a particular flower amoungst hundreds; its like spotting a grain of sand in a swimming pool! I defend myself by my sting. I hide from preditors by running off to my hive; but I cannot hide from insecticides! I help humans in many ways. Besides my delicious honey, I am now being used to detect explosive materials and illegal drugs. I truly am amazzzzzzing!
